The Curriculum Aspects

Little Bo Peeps curriculum consists of the five following aspects which are underpinned by the seven Educational Programmes of Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Strong and Confident Communicator:

To support children’s ability to listen, understand and communicate, which is crucial for lifelong learning and future success.

Underpinned by Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy and Expressive Art and Design

We will deliver the following programmes to support this aspect.

  • Chatter Matters
  • Concept Cat
  • Letters and Sounds
  • Early Phonics program

Curious and Investigative Learner:

Promote children’s curiosity and enabling them to use their senses to explore the world around them. We aim to encourage the children to build on their experiences, our skilled staff will respond to the children through their spontaneous opportunities for appreciating the awe and wonder of the world.

Underpinned by Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development and Understanding the World.

We will deliver the following programmes to support this aspect.

  • Forest School
  • Welly Wednesday
  • Exploring Local Surroundings
  • Growing our own Flowers and Vegetables supported by the local horticultural society.

Resilient and Motivated Learner:

To develop a positive sense of self, supporting confidence, and developing strong relationships.

Underpinned by Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design

We will deliver the following programmes to support this aspect.

  • Key Person approach
  • Yoga
  • Mindfulness
  • Small group interventions

Emotionally literate reflective thinker:

To support children to become self-aware of their emotions and those of others. To begin to understand and regulate their own emotions through co-regulation with knowledgeable and empathetic staff.  By embracing positive relationships, the children will develop a positive sense of self, which will improve outcomes, well-being, and overall happiness.

  • Key Person Approach
  • Colour Monster activities
  • Emotional check ins
  • Calm time
  • Mindfulness

Healthy, independent explorer:

To encourage healthy and active habits which influence lifelong good health. To promote digital well-being and safety. Understand that their body belongs to them and that they have the right to always feel safe.
